Position Overview
The Sustainability Superintendent leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental and social programs to ensure regulatory compliance, responsible resource management, and positive community relations. The role integrates environmental management with corporate social responsibility (CSR) to promote sustainable mining practices aligned with company policies, national regulations, and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Management
- Oversee the implementation of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programs (EPEP), including programs on land, water, air quality, and biodiversity conservation.
- Ensure compliance with DENR, MGB, and other regulatory requirements through monitoring, audits, and timely monitoring of reports.
- Lead the planning and execution of mine rehabilitation and closure programs, ensuring progressive rehabilitation and long-term sustainability.
- Coordinate the preparation and implementation of EPEP/FMRDP and ensure alignment with operational and corporate targets.
- Supervise environmental monitoring systems and ensure data integrity for internal and regulatory reporting.
Social Development and CSR
- Manage the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) and other CSR initiatives to promote local development and community well-being.
- Oversee community engagement, stakeholder consultations, and information-education campaigns (IEC) in support of operational transparency and social acceptance.
- Provide support in FPIC (Free and Prior Informed Consent) processes and Indigenous Peoples (IP) engagement.
- Implement conflict prevention and grievance mechanisms, ensuring timely and fair resolution of issues.
Reporting and Documentation
- Lead the preparation of the Sustainability Report, integrating environmental and social performance indicators.
- Ensure timely submission of GHG reporting, Group-level sustainability data, and environmental monitoring reports.
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance records in line with company and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Forestry, or related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years experience in environmental management and/or community relations in the mining industry.
- Strong understanding of Philippine mining and environmental laws, SDMP guidelines, and international sustainability frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficient in reporting systems and data analysis related to sustainability and compliance.
